The head coach of the Golden State Warriors, Steve Kerr, is known for never holding back his admiration for his opponents and always providing truthful assessments of their talent.
Following the Los Angeles Lakers’ impressive victory over the Warriors with a score of 120-94, Golden State’s record fell to 2-10. In the aftermath, coach Kerr had nothing but praise for Lakers’ standout player LeBron James, calling him “possibly the greatest athlete in history to grace this earth.” Kerr’s admiration carries weight, considering his own experience winning three championships while playing with Michael Jordan.
It’s undeniable. When you look at athletic prowess alone, LeBron James is a truly remarkable individual. He possesses the height of a small forward, the strength of a center, the speed of a point guard, and a combination of body control and leaping ability that would have made him a slam dunk contest champion if he had ever competed in one (I really wish he had!).
What sets James apart is not just his physical gifts, but also what he has achieved with them. After putting up impressive numbers like 23 points, 12 assists, and 6 rebounds against the Warriors, it’s evident that even in his 17th NBA season, he’s still going strong.
Of course, the definition and ranking of athleticism will always be subjective, leading to different opinions. For me personally, I see LeBron James and Serena Williams as the top athletes of all time.
So, who makes it onto your list of the greatest athletes ever?
