LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers is proving that Father Time can be beaten, despite the popular saying in the sports world. He recently led the Lakers to a 106-103 win over the Phoenix Suns and commented on his ability to maintain a high level of play at almost 39 years old. James stated that he enjoys surprising himself with what he can still do after many years and miles in the NBA. He is determined to continue to battle against Father Time, which has always been undefeated, and hopes to give it its first loss. His performance on Tuesday was impressive for any player, let alone a 38-year-old, as he scored 31 points, had 11 assists, eight rebounds, and five steals, matching the output of Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant.

LeBron James has defied the norm by maintaining his exceptional skills despite his age, which is a time when most players experience significant decline. He has been performing consistently well with an average of 24.7 points, 7.6 rebounds, 6.6 assists, 2.2 three-pointers made, and 1.5 steals per game in 21 games this season for the Lakers, who currently have a record of 13-9. Throughout his career, the 19-time All-Star has maintained an impressive average of 27.2 points, 7.5 rebounds, 7.3 assists, 1.6 three-pointers made, and 1.5 steals. Despite being in the midst of his 21st season in the NBA, James is still among the MVP contenders, which is unprecedented for a player his age. However, considering all of the groundbreaking achievements he has accomplished throughout his career, it should not come as a surprise. Last season, he led the Lakers to the Western Conference Finals, and this season, he has helped them to become a top contender once again.

It’s no secret that the new tournament during the NBA season has a different feel than the regular games. That’s probably why LeBron James is giving it his all, as he always does. With four NBA championship wins and four NBA Finals MVP awards under his belt, winning an in-season tournament would be another incredible achievement for one of the greatest players in basketball history. The Lakers are just two victories away from making it happen, starting with a game against the New Orleans Pelicans in the semifinals this Thursday. If they win, they’ll face either the Milwaukee Bucks or Indiana Pacers in the finals on Saturday evening.
