Anthony Davis wasted no time in investing some of his hard-earned cash, after signing a profitable four-year contract with the Lakers. The basketball star purchased a stunning mansion situated within the gated and secure community of Bel Air Crest, nestled amidst the picturesque mountains that lie between Bel Air and San Fernando Valley. According to reports, the price tag for this luxurious abode was nothing short of impressive.
In the late 1980s and early 1990s, Bel Air Crest saw the construction of over 200 homes, most of which were extravagant Mediterranean-style mansions with private driveway gates. The community boasts a number of high-profile residents like famous chefs Gordon Ramsay and Kathy Gryphon, and even big names in Hollywood like Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have called it home while their massive Hidden Hills mansion was being built.
It appears that Davis has recently become the proud owner of a new property, as the public records reveal that he shelled out a staggering $31 million for it. To fund this purchase, he secured a mortgage amounting to $20.1 million. Interestingly, this property was not put up for sale on any real estate website, making it an exclusive acquisition for Davis. The mansion is truly a magnificent sight to behold, boasting the most spacious and opulent living quarters in the entire area. It occupies a sprawling 20,000 square feet and sits atop a 3.5-acre promontory, providing panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean and Catalina Island.
According to the official property documents, this magnificent house boasts of eight well-appointed bedrooms and nine and a half luxurious bathrooms, and it was finished in 2010. Originally built for the nearby Chang family, the architecture of the building is entirely symmetrical, reminiscent of the White House, and gracefully blends elements of a classic International-style chateau with elegant European influences. In 2016, retired semiconductor executive Ted Foxman, who had transitioned into real estate development, acquired this prestigious property for a cool $10 million. He then poured an impressive amount of resources into upgrading the estate’s interiors and landscaping, resulting in a more vibrant and verdant environment.
Foxman had a fondness for injecting bright and bold hues into his home decor. He even went as far as placing a vintage Porsche 356, painted in a delightful aqua shade, inside his living room. Collaborating with Lonni Paul, an interior designer from L.A., Foxman fashioned a one-of-a-kind and stunning abode that graced the pages of Elle Decor magazine the previous year. The house’s immense double-height vestibule, crowned by a large dome, creates a solarium-inspired ambiance. It also features several spaces such as a music room, a games room complete with a wet bar, a wine cellar, and a movie theatre. Despite its vastness, the property’s star attraction is the magnificent vista and the 120-foot-long Olympic-grade swimming pool. Additional amenities include a poolside cabana, expansive lawns, and a full-size tennis court.
Back in 2018, Davis owned a lavish estate in Westlake Village that had cost him $7.5 million. Unfortunately, he ended up selling it two years later and incurring a substantial loss of one million dollars. Meanwhile, Foxman was able to make a profit three times the amount he had spent on his Bel Air property, which he sold to Davis. However, after taking into account renovation expenses and taxes, he still came out ahead. Presently, Foxman has settled into a smaller, yet still impressive, mansion in Encino. This new property boasts a 13,000 square foot living space, complete with a basketball court, and was purchased for $13.8 million.
